I saw a post by @bellenotthebeast about the hate drivers are getting at the moment and this is a written version of what I put in the tags of my reblog because I didn't realise I was going to go on a rant when I tapped on the reblog button.
734 words just in case you were wondering.
All of the hate that drivers get for making mistakes is getting absolutely out of hand. It's frankly ridiculous how many people will jump at the chance to nitpick and be rude about another driver and whatever mistake they made minor or not. (This is specifically in relation to comments taken severly out of a very important bit of context and actual driving moments, if there is something serious then yes I think they should be held accountable for their actions, just because they're rich and in a very elite sport should not make them immune from accountability even though it does appear to sometimes.)
The stuff with Lando is actually sickening with how far its gotten. None of them should have to see that. In fact, no one, f1 driver or not, should ever see or hear such horrible things that people are saying to or about them. The death threats???? Hello??? What the actual fuck were people thinking. The drivers are people too the fans of those drivers are people. Get a grip and don't fucking send death threats???? Is that really that hard to have basic human respect for other people???
I see hate so much. Be it in the comments of an edit on tiktok or on a fan page on Instagram. Even the drivers own comment section and the official F1 account. People. What the fuck. Be supportive of people, for goodness sake. Don't be dicks??? Is it so difficult to be nice to people? I can tell that, unfortunately, I'm going to be using that phrase a lot.
I want to see the positives in this sport too. I think with all of the hate, all the good things have been buried under the swathes of hate and pain ignorance in some cases. I want to read or watch a video on how driver A did something so well, even if it's small and insignificant in the overall. I really want to hear about the amazing defending, even if they did get overtaken eventually. I want to hear about them being so fucking happy with their Quali position. I want to hear them screaming down the radio when they get in the points. I want to hear the feedback on the drive, where things may have gone wrong, and even where people think things could have improved. I want to hear about the track and the conditions and how well everyone did and how the people and the fans and their teams are so proud of their achievements during the weekend.
The thing I do not want to see is - ew i hate driver B. EEK no driver C ruined everything. Driver D should crash into the barriers. DO YOU NOT REMEMBER WHEN THERE WERE COMMENTS HOPING DRIVERS WOULD DIE IN A CRASH. What the fuck is wrong with the people saying that???? That is NOT okay. EVER. Have you not seen how outraged Max Fewtrell was when someone said that they hoped Max V crashed and got hurt in his twitch chat room. He was furious. Saying how that wasn't okay and how fucked up it was to say something like that. Listen to Max for fucks sake please.
WE👏 DONT 👏KNOW 👏THEM👏.
They're public figures, and we only know the public side of them, not the side they reserve for behind closed doors. And for the fifth hundred time, we aren't entitled to know anything about them behind closed doors either. We dont have any ground to stand on to demand anything like that. Because who the fuck do you think you are to demand something like that. Seriously, some people need to understand that this ISN'T okay and the way these people are acting will NEVER be okay.
So just enjoy the sport.
Enjoy the drivers.
Enjoy watching their skills on the track.
Enjoy their interviews and their relationships together on and off the track.
Enjoy the side of them that we are allowed to see.
And stop hating unnecessarily.
Please, for the sake of the sport.
For the sake of the newer fans.
And for the sake of the drivers and their physical and mental health. You really need to think before you post. Think about the impacts it could have if something happens. Know that if your words are seen, that could be detrimental and how YOU played a part in something so horrible.
Thank you,
Ez

y'all stop saying fyodor has never looked so sincerely angry before. he has.
I know this because, and this is not an exaggeration, the vast majority of my manga revisits are to enjoy his expressions of anger, disdain, and malcontent. i shit you not, several of my bsd meta posts wholly unrelated to fyodor were written because I happened to notice something else while flipping through to imbibe fedya's hissy fits. I don't reread the manga when I do this, just those scenes, unless something else catches my attention.
anyway, stop disrespecting my beloved pastime.
#bsd#bungou stray dogs#bsd fyodor#most people are remarkably bad at reading expressions#not me though#this isnt a bit i fixated on how emotions are nonverbally communicated so that i could lie better and to develop a pleading face#for most of elementary school i studied people's faces and workshopped my own by getting feedback from others and testing them in the field#then in 8th grade my gifted program teacher made us take an assessment on how well we could read faces#to debunk body language expertise#and demonstrate the fact that most people think they can read faces but most of us cant#emphasizing why trials and presumptions based on assumptions that we can are harmful#everyone predictably failed real hard#except for me. i made an 80%#my teacher made me take it again and explain to her my process.#then she asked where i learned it and i explained to her that i never got stickers at naptime in kindergarten because i never slept#so i began obsessively refining my fake sleep#it took months but i figured out how to coordinate all of the tells and it worked i started getting stickers#so then i started to practice other states of mind#and she marked me an outlier and removed me from the data 😭#anyway. all im saying is. i love fedya's face.

me surrounded by all of my medical paperwork that disability services deems “not enough evidence” to claim support, after applying for the 5th time:

#spoonie#actually disabled#all because I don’t ‘tick a box’#all because of elaborate recited corporate language that essentially spells out ‘not disabled enough’#Australia may have - objectively - sort of good health care (up for debate obviously but it’s not Bad either) but jfc#the hoops disabled people have to leap through ….#only to be assessed by people who have no fucking idea what we deal with#sigh#I quite literally have to hand over sensitive vulnerable information#my whole life story (since BIRTH)#to faceless strangers#and wait to be judged worthy of support#how do they not expect anyone to be disheartened by this??#spoon tag#disability#disabled#chronic illness#chronic pain#chronically ill#medical conditions#healthcare#healthcare system#Australian healthcare#personal

ELA, grades 5-10, Percy Jackson / Greek Mythology unit
Quiz:
Phase 1
Imagine that you must do a 4-person group project that requires researching a topic, making a poster/slideshow, and doing a presentation.
Choose one classmate (or Tumblr mutual) and two of the twelve Olympians to form a group with. Mark your choices on the attached Google Doc. You must also include a rationale for why you chose to include your two picks and why you chose to exclude each of the other options.
Phase 2
Teacher assigns each student's chosen partner* (or Tumblr mutual) to respond to their rationales by adopting the persona of each of the Olympians. Not every god needs to respond to every rationale, but every god does need to leave at least one comment.
Notes for teachers:
The provided doc includes the names for all Olympians plus Hades, but you may choose to leave it blank and have students fill them in on their own as part of the assessment.
Hades has been intentionally included among the list of Olympians as a trap. Deduct points for any of the following:
• choosing to include Hades as a group member
• failing to address Hades's status as a non-Olympian in their rationale
• failing to address/mock Hades's status as a non-Olympian when writing in the persona of at least one Olympian
Other than that, reward students for having the foresight to carefully word their rationales so as not to offend anyone, because we mortals can never be sure that the gods are not in a capricious mood on any particular day.
*This might get complicated, so you may choose to simply randomize student selections for this part of the quiz.
#assessment#ela / english language arts#grade 5#middle school#high school#greek mythology#percy jackson#percy jackson and the olympians#tagamemnon#teachblr#I may not be using Tagamemnon legitimately‚ if so then I apologize for my hubris.#but this feels like it would be a really fun activity#I really hope someone tries it out#as for me‚ I wrote this whole thing while waiting at the DMV#my queue is running out and I needed more legitimate lessons this week

I will say it is funny how many times I've seen clips of Felix and Chan speaking english but because of their accents or maybe the use of aussie slang, people will misinterpret or essentially mistranslate what they were saying, I've made posts about it before because /typically/ it's pretty funny but also. If english speakers frequently listen to two australian guys and manage to incorrectly quote them, shouldn't that be a lesson to all of us that things like fan translations and auto translation tools like google translate should be taken with a grain of salt, and while very helpful, it doesn't mean they're always accurate !
#like its just wild to me seeing people who cannot speak korean#using an auto translate tool and then getting angry at an idol for saying something 'bad' or whatever#but its like.... you cant just blindly shit talk a person without talking to people who speak the actual language#and assessing if they did say something shitty or if maybe the translation wasnt on par yk#like inadvertently seeing people subtitle 100% incorrect words on felix or chris bc of their accents has been great for me#bc it made me stop and go Oh yeah. we can all mishear- misread- misinterpret and its good to remember that#anyway nothing but respect for translators who help to bridge the gap fr 👏

In my special self-indulgent headcanon version of speech gifts, telepathy is a mind gift, but the equivalently difficult Speech gift is speaking in concepts
#so instead of using words you use straight concepts#this is a difficult skill not just because of its technical challenge but because there’s a proverbial language barrier#The way you think about something the way you understand certain ideas is different than other people’s#So communicating in concepts becomes a very intimate act in which you must intrinsically learn to#wrap your head around someone else’s worldview and respond in kind#The way I imagine it when you get to this level of study Speech classes begin to resemble anthropology#for example#what is a woman? What is a house? Are these concepts immutable?#How do those ideas translate across the bounds of culture? How do you specifically conceptualize these things?#One of the final assessments in Speech is choosing a word and defending how/why you conceptualize it the way you do.#You do this in a conversation with a professor that is held entirely in the language of concepts#It’s not just an assessment of eloquence but an assessment of whether you’ve#thought about how and in what ways you want to participate in society#anyways#yeah#I can and will extrapolate about dem sense higher ed and speech gifts and are so fun and malleable#celias journey#speech gifts#worldbuilding
